About Gillian Harrison, MD

Dr. Gillian Harrison is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon at Inova Health System. She joined Inova in 2023. She specializes in the management of skull base lesions, pituitary tumors, benign and malignant brain tumors, and trigeminal neuralgia. She has experience in endoscopic endonasal and minimally invasive cranial surgery as well as stereotactic radiosurgery.

Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Harrison completed residency training in neurological surgery at New York University. She then completed a fellowship in skull base and cerebrovascular neurosurgery at Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine in Indianapolis, IN, followed by a fellowship focusing on skull base and endoscopic endonasal pituitary surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

Dr. Harrison serves as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Inova Fairfax Medical Campus.

Dr. Harrison utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to provide the most comprehensive, safe and evidence-based care possible. She is committed to helping patients and their families understand their diagnoses and treatment options, both operative and nonoperative. Her mission is to empower them to make well-informed decisions in line with their preferences and lifestyles to achieve the best possible outcomes.

A Maryland native, Dr. Harrison currently resides in Alexandria, VA. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, friends and her dog. She also loves traveling, sailing, cycling and listening to live music.
