Respiratory Therapy Clinicals
Inova Health System provides direct clinical experiences for students enrolled in an accredited respiratory therapy program.
Schools must have a current affiliation agreement on file with Inova Health System and must meet all compliance requirements prior to participating in clinical rotations. Clinical instructors (unless currently employed by the facility) must complete hospital/department orientation.
Students may attend clinicals at the following facilities:

Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children
Inova Heart and Vascular Institute
Inova Fair Oaks Hospital
Inova Loudoun Hospital
Inova Mount Vernon Hospital
Inova Alexandria Hospital
Inova Health System offers respiratory students clinical rotations on the general floor care area, Intensive Care (including Trauma ICU, Neurological ICU, Medical/Surgical ICU, Cardiovascular ICU, Pediatric ICU, and Neonatal ICU), Intermediate Care, Emergency Department, Pulmonary Diagnostics, and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Inova Fairfax Hospital offers a 12-month internship and a 10-month fellowship program. These programs provide classroom as well as bedside experience.
Inova Health System also provides opportunities for potential students to investigate the field of Respiratory Care. This allows an insiders look at what therapists do on a daily basis.
