2008 Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Schedule
PALS Provider (2-days) and PALS Renewal (1-day) courses are offered through Inova HealthSource. These programs present a standardized approach toward pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency cardiac care, based on American Heart Association guidelines.
These courses incorporate didactic sessions, interactive scenarios with instruction, and evaluation. The course includes identification of the infant/child at risk of cardiopulmonary arrest, strategies for prevention of cardiopulmonary arrest in infants/children, and techniques for resuscitation and stabilization of infants/children with respiratory failure, shock and cardiopulmonary arrest. Continuing education credits are offered.
Course prerequisites: proficiency required in CPR according to the 2005 guidelines (newest guidelines), identifying PALS cardiac rhythms, and pharmacology. Classes are held at Telestar Court.

There is a fee for this course; food is provided. If this course is an Inova work
requirement, please obtain a general ledger (GL) number from your PCD before
registering. A map, course agenda, Handbook of Emergency Cardiovascular Care,
and PALS book (with pretest) will be included in your registration packet.
