Inova Alexandria Hospital Says 'Thank You' To Local EMS

Alexandria, VA—Inova Alexandria Hospital will be serving a special breakfast
Tuesday, May 20, to honor area Emergency Medical Services (EMS) workers who
dedicate their lives to caring for the community.
"EMS workers are an
extension of any hospital emergency department," said Martin Brown, MD, medical
director of emergency medicine at Inova Alexandria Hospital. "What these men and
women do at the scene of an emergency directly affects our ability to
successfully treat any patient that comes through our doors. We are very
grateful for the contributions this dedicated group of professionals makes each
day."

This year’s EMS Breakfast will focus on the warning signs of a heart
attack. Stephen Day, MD, cardiologist, Inova Alexandria Hospital, will
speak about “Acute Coronary Syndrome-The Need for Speed.” Acute coronary
syndrome causes chest pain and other symptoms typical of a heart
attack.
Pamela Copley, chair, Alexandria EMS Council, will address the
importance of keeping the city’s EMS Services one of the best in the
country.
