“The nurses at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital saw National Nurses Week, a time
when nurses are recognized for their commitment to quality care, as a way to
give back to the Mount Vernon community,” said Debbie Bendahan, RN, director,
post anesthesia care unit, and one of the presenters of the check. “Nurses took
the lead but physicians, administrators, employees and visitors all came
together to make this fund raising effort possible.”
Nurses collected
donations for each of the themed baskets they created. Some of the basket themes
included “Italian Delight”, with all the ingredients for an Italian dinner, “The
Gardening Basket” for those with a green thumb, and a “Spa Basket” with bath
salts, aromatherapy oils and a gift certificate to a local spa.
