Inova Alexandria Hospital is a 318-bed community hospital that offers a full range of healthcare services and has received national recognition for healthcare excellence. We are dedicated to continually expanding our programs and services to help ensure we meet the healthcare needs of the communities we serve today and in the future.
The vision for Alexandria’s community hospital began in 1872 with one person – Julia Johns – and it continues today. For more than 135 years, Inova Alexandria Hospital has provided high-quality medical care and innovative technology. During our rich history, we have continuously enhanced our facility and services to offer the latest treatments and technologies, earning us recognition for many "firsts" in patient care.

Future plans
The hospital is currently investing more than $84 million to enhance its emergency, cardiac, vascular, surgical and laboratory services as part of Project 2010. The project will enhance the hospital’s existing healthcare services and improve patient access. Funding for Project 2010 represents the largest investment of capital into the hospital since 1972.
