What is Interventional Radiology?
Some radiologists specialize in interventional radiology, a way to diagnose and
often treat patients by means of minimally invasive, image-guided therapy.
Interventional radiology uses X-ray, CT, MRI or ultrasound technology
to visually guide a physician as he or she threads a catheter or other tiny
instrument into the body. Many conditions that once
required surgery can now be treated without surgery by an interventional
radiologist.
Interventional radiology services are available at Inova Health System facilities. Your physician is your best resource on deciding whether interventional radiology is the best option for you.
