Magnet Housing Rental Program (Fairfax County)

Providing affordable housing for an emerging clinical healthcare workforce

Fairfax County's Magnet Housing Rental Program provides attractive, conveniently located, affordable housing for qualified applicants. The program is operated by the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority and the Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development. This program is available to nurses and allied health professionals who meet minimum requirements and who desire to pursue or continue employment within Inova facilities. Glenwood Mews is conveniently located near Inova Mount Vernon and Inova Alexandria hospitals, with easy access from I-495.

This Magnet Housing program is not affiliated with the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Magnet Recognition Program®.

Requirements
  • Applicants must make a two-year work commitment to Inova Health System
  • Applicants must sign a two-year lease agreement, and will have an opportunity to extend one year based on eligibility qualifications.
  • Students who apply must be able to document a minimum of 15 hours per week employment. This is not a student-housing opportunity.
  • Students must maintain a 2.8 GPA to remain eligible
  • Applicants must pass background checks and a credit screening
  • Applicants must meet income guidelines as set forth by Fairfax County (see the pre-application form at right for guideline information)

Families are encouraged to apply, as a very limited number of the town homes available in Glenwood Mews may be allotted to roommate arrangements.

Terms
Participants will sign a two-year lease agreement. If income remains below the maximum income listed above after two years, participants will be eligible for a one-year extension. Successful employment with Inova Health System is mandatory for participation in Magnet Housing.
