About Seyed A. Shobeiri, MD

Dr. S. Abbas Shobeiri is the Division Chief of Benign Gynecology and Director of the Pelvic Floor Program at Inova. He is board certified in urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery and has more than 30 years of clinical experience as a gynecologic surgeon. Dr. Shobeiri is a professor of medical education at the University of Virginia and affiliate faculty at George Mason University’s Department of Bioengineering.

Dr. Shobeiri is an expert in management of maternal urogynecology (pelvic organ prolapse, urinary and defecatory dysfunction during and after pregnancy, trauma to the pelvic floor and the perineum during labor, vaginal cysts and masses), 3D pelvic floor ultrasound imaging, and management of vaginal agenesis or stenosis and management of vaginal mesh. He directs the postpartum urogynecology clinic at Inova and concentrates most of his clinical and research activities advocating for postpartum women with pelvic floor trauma.

Dr. Shobeiri has authored more than 200 scientific articles, authored many book chapters, and is the editor of multiple medical textbooks. His work in pelvic floor imaging and complex pelvic floor repair draws patients from all over the United States and the world who require specialized management.

I've only ever met one other physician like Dr Shobeiri and that's Dr Hashemi who referred me to him in the first place.They are both cut from the same cloth and I desperately wish that more medical professionals shared their level of dedication, empathy and involvement in their patients care and well being.
