Background Information
The purpose of this research is to collect blood specimens to evaluate a new diagnostic blood test that will help physicians diagnose individuals that may have new symptoms of heart failure or to determine the severity in those with heart failure, better than they can today. Your sample will be used to evaluate the usefulness and clinical utility of cardiac markers, specifically NT-proBNP in patients with heart failure. The new test being evaluated is investigational and not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
