System Associate Director for Interventional Cardiology and Executive Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories for Inova

Dr. Behnam N. Tehrani serves as the System Associate Director for Interventional Cardiology and Executive Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories for Inova. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at George Washington University and the University of Virginia. His clinical and research interests involve complex coronary, pulmonary and peripheral vascular disease, as well as renal denervation for the management of resistant hypertension.

Dr. Tehrani is involved in clinical trials and registries pertaining to cardiogenic shock and pulmonary embolism. He is a member of Inova Schar Heart and Vascular’s complex high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention, chronic total occlusion, resistant hypertension, cardiogenic shock, pulmonary embolism response team and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension programs. In line with Inova’s mission and values, he has dedicated his career to the employment of team-based systems of care, using innovative technologies coupled with research and a lifelong commitment to education and learning.

Dr. Tehrani is a nationally recognized leader and serves on national committees in the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He has co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, and his work has been published in Journal of American College of Cardiology (JACC), JACC: Heart Failure, JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, JAMA Cardiology, Circulation: Heart Failure, and the Journal of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He is also a peer reviewer for Journal of American College of Cardiology, Circulation, the European Heart Journal, the American Heart Journal and Catheterization and Cardiovascular Intervention.
