About Danilo A. Acosta Diaz, MD

Danilo Acosta Diaz, MD, FACOG, is a specialty care physician board certified in obstetrics and gynecology who subspecializes in benign gynecologic surgery using minimally invasive techniques at Inova Health System. He joined Inova in 2022 and has been practicing since 2016.

Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Acosta Diaz completed a two-year American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists fellowship in advanced minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at George Washington University Hospital and was also an obstetrics and gynecology research instructor at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC. He completed a residency program in obstetrics and gynecology at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, where he served as administrative chief resident in his final year and received the Society of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeons’ Outstanding Minimally Invasive Surgery Resident Award.

Dr. Acosta Diaz’s clinical areas of interest include abnormal uterine bleeding, adenomyosis, adnexal masses, Asherman's syndrome, fibroids, endometriosis and pelvic pain, and Müllerian anomalies. He performs complex robotic and laparoscopic surgeries and hysteroscopic procedures such as fertility-sparing surgery, laparoscopic myomectomy, laparoscopic excision of endometriosis and laparoscopic hysterectomy. Dr. Acosta Diaz offers diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy in the office setting, allowing patients the ease and convenience of having a procedure in comfortable surroundings.

Dr. Acosta Diaz enjoys working with patients with diverse backgrounds who experience a wide spectrum of gynecologic problems. His patient care philosophy is to provide personalized and compassionate comprehensive care and to take time to ensure patients understand all management options as he guides patients through shared decision making. Dr. Acosta Diaz’s patient care goal is to provide minimally invasive options to ensure patients can shorten their recovery with improved outcomes. He has presented his clinical and surgical educational research at national venues with the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the Society of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeons, and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Outside the office, Dr. Acosta Diaz is an avid tennis player who has played in college varsity and competed at entry-level professional tennis tournaments.
