Holiday Hours

With the exception of Inova hospitals, Inova Emergency Care and Inova-GoHealth Urgent Care, all Inova outpatient offices will be closed for the Christmas and New Year's Day holidays – Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1.

Some Inova care sites have additional closures for the holidays, which will be noted on the relevant location pages.

About Lauren C. Turza, MD

Dr. Lauren Turza is a specialty care physician board certified in surgery at Inova Health System. She joined Inova in 2022 and has been practicing since 2009.

Dr. Turza provides care for the following clinical areas: ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy, skin punch biopsy, excisional biopsies, nipple duct exploration for nipple discharge, partial mastectomy with or without oncoplastic surgery (hidden scar and lift/reduction), mastectomies (skin sparing, nipple sparing or aesthetically flat closure), sentinel lymph node biopsies, targeted axillary dissection, and axillary lymph node dissections.

Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Turza served in the U.S. Army for 17 years. She received her undergraduate degree from Columbia University and attended Uniformed  Services University of the Health Sciences for medical school in Bethesda, MD. She completed her internship and residency in general surgery at the National Capital Consortium (Walter Reed National Military Medical Center) and fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. Dr. Turza has deployed oversees in the Middle East.

She was the chief of breast surgery and director of the breast center at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and at Tripler Army Medical Center. She also served as the cancer liaison physician for the Commission on Cancer at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. She is Assistant Professor of Surgery at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and has published research in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Turza lives in Bethesda, MD, with her two children and enjoys outdoor activities including biking, running and hiking.
