About Lonika Majithia, MD

Dr. Lonika Majithia is currently the Medical Director of Brachytherapy and Director of Educational Programs at Radiation Oncology Associates, and is board certified in radiation oncology. She joined  Radiation Oncology Associates in 2016. Her clinical interests include gynecologic, breast, CNS, GI, thoracic and hematologic malignancies. Dr. Majithia is experienced with multiple radiotherapy techniques including volumetric modulated arc therapies (VMAT), intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic body radiotherapy, Gamma Knife and CyberKnife Radiosurgery, intra-operative radiotherapy (IORT), eye plaque brachytherapy, and prostate and gynecologic brachytherapy, including High Dose Rate (HDR) brachytherapy.

Dr. Majithia grew up in Albuquerque, NM. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of New Mexico with dual bachelor’s degrees in biology and physics. She was awarded the UNM Merit Scholarship and actively participated in physics and basic science research. She completed her medical training at the University of New Mexico where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her preliminary medicine internship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI and her radiation oncology residency at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. She served as Chief Resident during her last year of residency and remained active in academic pursuits including research and medical education. During her residency, she presented multiple abstracts and presentations at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) annual meetings and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) meetings. She has published book chapters, written retrospective review articles, and assisted in the development of a phase I clinical trial in hematologic malignancies. During her residency, she also completed a master’s degree in medical sciences.
