Holiday Hours

With the exception of Inova hospitals, Inova Emergency Care and Inova-GoHealth Urgent Care, all Inova outpatient offices will be closed for the Christmas and New Year's Day holidays – Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1.

Some Inova care sites have additional closures for the holidays, which will be noted on the relevant location pages.

Mirjana Ivanisevic, PhD

Clinical Neuropsychologist

Dr. Ivanisevic joined Inova Neurology in 2022. She received her PhD in clinical psychology from University of Kansas, completed her predoctoral internship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire and her fellowship specializing in clinical neuropsychology at VA Boston Healthcare System with joint appointments at Harvard University and Boston University.

As a clinical neuropsychologist, Dr. Ivanisevic specializes in neuropsychological evaluations in the department of neurology to assess cognition and assist with differential diagnosis for a variety of neurological conditions, including, epilepsy, dementia, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, cerebrovascular disease, multiple sclerosis, headaches, as well as complex medical and psychiatric conditions. She has a special clinical interest in completing pre-surgical neuropsychological evaluations for epilepsy patients. She is a member of the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology.

Epilepsy Pharmacist

James earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (formerly the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy). He completed a post-graduate training program in general pharmacy practices at the University of Arizona Medical Campus where he received additional training in the epilepsy clinics, and furthered his training at the University of Colorado Medical Center specializing in critical care. James spent the last 10 years working as a critical care clinical pharmacy specialist at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, and is now the Pharmacy Clinical Manager at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. His interests include medical critical care and neuroscience specialties.

Michael Schmiester

Neurodiagnostic Manager

Michael G. Schmiester received a BS in healthcare administration from Columbia Union College and has board certifications from ABRET (American Board of Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists) in electroencephalography and intra-operative neurophysiology monitoring. Michael is the neurodiagnostic manager for all Inova hospitals. Additionally, Michael is the principal clinical instructor for neurodiagnostic students whom perform their clinical rotation from 1 of 3 affiliated accredited schools. He is a strong advocate for believing that hard work and perseverance are rewarded and that positive thoughts are powerful and rewarding. He involves his staff and students with assignments that reflect these core professional beliefs. His professional interest focuses on the continued expansion of the neurodiagnostic services within Inova. Michael is an active member of the American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists and the American Society of Neurophysiological Monitoring.
