Holiday Hours

With the exception of Inova hospitals, Inova Emergency Care and Inova-GoHealth Urgent Care, all Inova outpatient offices will be closed for the New Year's Day holiday – Wednesday, Jan. 1.

Some Inova care sites have additional closures for the holidays, which will be noted on the relevant location pages.

Garima Sharma, MD

Director of Cardio-Obstetrics, Director of Women’s Cardiovascular Health

Garima Sharma, MD, is Director of Cardio-Obstetrics and Director of Women’s Cardiovascular Health, a collaborative program of Inova Schar Heart and Vascular and Inova Women’s services.

Dr. Sharma is a nationally recognized expert in women's cardiovascular health and heart disease prevention, and she has served as an adjunct associate professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Kelly C. Epps-Anderson, MD

Associate Director of Women’s Cardiovascular Health, Director of Interventional Cardiology Clinical Trials

Kelly C. Epps-Anderson, MD, is Associate Director of Women’s Cardiovascular Health and Director of Interventional Cardiology Clinical Trials at Inova.

Dr. Epps-Anderson has a special interest in women's cardiovascular health. She is passionate about educating women about their cardiovascular disease risk, prevention strategies and early recognition of symptoms of cardiovascular disease. She also co-founded Inova's cardio-oncology program.

Afrooz Ardestani, MD

Dr. Afrooz Ardestani is a specialty care cardiologist board certified in cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology, adult comprehensive echocardiography and internal medicine. She joined Inova Medical Group with more than 14 years of clinical experience. Her expertise is in general cardiology, especially in cardiovascular imaging, preventive cardiology, lipid disorder and women's heart health.

Dr. Ardestani's research interests are in the areas of preventive cardiology and cardiovascular epidemiology and cardiac imaging. She has authored several presentations and peer-review publications.

Rachel L. Berger, MD

Dr. Rachel L. Berger received her medical degree from the University of Rochester in 2001. Her residency was at Mount Sinai Medical Center, with a Training Specialty of Internal Medicine. She completed a fellowship at New York Medical College with a Training Specialty of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Disease. 

Dr. Berger is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease. 

Jason A. Bonomo, MD, PhD

Dr. Jason Bonomo is a specialty care physician board certified in cardiovascular disease, echocardiography and internal medicine at Inova Health System. He joined Inova in 2022 and has been dedicated to delivering comprehensive healthcare services since he began his medical career in 2016. Dr. Bonomo sees patients through the Inova Cardiovascular Genomics Program, where he specializes in patients with aortic disease.

Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Bonomo completed his cardiovascular disease fellowship at Northwestern University School of Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. During his fellowship, he gained extensive knowledge and expertise in diagnosing and managing complex cardiovascular conditions.

Christine D. Bussey, MD

Dr. Christine Bussey is a specialty care physician board certified in cardiovascular medicine, nuclear cardiology and internal medicine at Inova Health System. She joined Inova with more than 17 years of clinical experience. She has a special interest in management of women’s heart disease, coronary artery disease, and congestive heart failure.

Currently, Dr. Bussey serves as the Medical Director of Nuclear Cardiology at Inova Fairfax Hospital and is a member of the Cardiac Operations committee. Dr. Bussey became interested in cardiology because she felt it provided the greatest opportunity to positively impact morbidity and mortality in the number one killer in America. Her goal is to help patients live longer, happier, and better than in generations past by incorporating preventive care measures and, where needed, medications and procedures.

Sheila Khianey, MD

Dr. Sheila Khianey is board certified in cardiology and internal medicine with a focus in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and vascular imaging. She specializes in clearly understanding each patient’s condition to provide the most customized care with a passion for the overall being of her patients. Her interests include coronary artery disease, heart failure, congenital heart disease and individualized medicine.

Growing up in a family of physicians, Dr. Khianey knew from a young age she wanted to become a cardiologist. Her focus is to translate her knowledge of how daily stressors impact the heart and coach her patients to prevent and manage it effectively to lead positive and productive lives. Her passion and expertise have translated into providing high quality patient care to heal by taking a holistic approach to the human body.

Sara Kulangara, MD

Dr. Sara Kulangara received her medical degree from the University of California Los Angeles in 1990. Her internship was at Rhode Island Hospital with a Training Specialty of Internal Medicine. Her Residency was at Rhode Island Hospital with a Training Specialty of Internal Medicine. 

Dr. Kulangara held three Fellowships: John Radcliffe Hospital (Training Specialty: Cardiology), University of North Carolina Hospitals (Training Specialty: Cardiology and Cardiovascular Disease), and University of North Carolina Hospitals (Training Specialty: Cardiology). She is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease. 

Paula E. Pinell-Salles, MD

Dr. Paula E. Pinell-Salles received her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2002. Her residency was at the University of Pennsylvania, with a Training Specialty of Internal Medicine. She served in a Fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical System with a Training Specialty of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Disease.

Dr. Pinell-Salles is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease. In February 2022, she authored the blog post What You Need to Know About Cardiovascular Health During Pregnancy.

Archana Reddy, MD

Dr. Archana Reddy received her medical degree from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences in 2000. She was an Intern at Drexel University and served her Residency at Drexel, with a Training Specialty of  Internal Medicine. Her fellowship was served at Drexel University, with a Training Specialty of Cardiology. 

Dr. Reddy is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease. She was named to the list of Washingtonian Top Doctors in 2022. She speaks English and Hindi.

Manisha Reddy, MD

Dr. Manisha Reddy is a cardiologist board certified in cardiovascular diseases, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, vascular interpretation and internal medicine. She has a special interest in the management of coronary artery disease and valvular heart disease.

Dr. Reddy believes in the importance of educating her patients about their conditions so that they can feel empowered to take control of their health. As heart disease is currently a leading cause of morbidity and mortality, Dr. Reddy feels strongly about teaching her patients about preventive strategies to mitigate future risk of cardiovascular disease. Her ultimate goal is to work with her patients to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

Dr. Reddy speaks English and Kannada.

Jennifer A. Shea, MD

Dr. Jennifer A. Shea received her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in 2007. Her residency was at George Washington University with a Training Specialty of Internal Medicine. She held a fellowship at George Washington University with a Training Specialty of Cardiology.

Dr. Shea is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease. In February 2022, she authored the blog post Cardio-Oncology: What It Is, Who It’s For and How It Can Help.

Tina L. Slottow, MD

Dr. Tina Slottow is a specialty care physician board certified in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and internal medicine at Inova Health System. She joins Inova with over 12 years of clinical experience. She has a special interest in women’s heart health, coronary artery disease, and congenital heart disease in adults.

Dr. Slottow became interested in cardiology because she wanted to educate patients about cardiovascular health and the prevention of cardiovascular disease. She was also drawn in by the numerous well-studied and effective therapies available. Her goal is to help her patients understand how their hearts function, how to modify risk factors, and how to live with, not suffer from, cardiovascular disease. She wants her patients to be as active and unlimited as possible.

Qiong Zhao, MD, PhD

Dr. Qiong “Joan” Zhao, a board certified physician in cardiovascular disease, was instrumental in developing Inova's cardiac diagnostics department. Her clinical areas of interest include structural heart disease, heart failure, pulmonary vascular disease, women’s heart disease and cardio-oncology.

Dr. Zhao has a special interest and expertise in 3D echocardiography and strain imaging, structural heart diseases, pulmonary hypertension and cardio-oncology. Currently, she is the principal investigator of echocardiography clinical trials and a subinvestigator in multiple other clinical trials at Inova Schar Heart and Vascular.

Rebecca Miller

Rebecca Miller, MS, LCGC

Cardiovascular Genetic Counselor

Rebecca Miller is co-founder of the Inova Cardiovascular Genetics Clinic. She received her bachelor of arts in psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her master of science in human genetics and genetic counseling from the University of Cincinnati.

Congenital Heart Disease

Anurag Sahu, MD

Dr. Sahu is the Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Center at Inova. He joined Inova in 2022 and has been practicing since 2003.

Electrophysiology

Eunice Yang, MD

Dr. Yang is board certified in clinical cardiac electrophysiology and has been practicing since 2013. She has a special interest in management of heart rhythm disorders, including cardiac device implantations such as event recorders and pacemakers.

Heart Failure

Jamie L. Kennedy, MD

Dr. Jamie L. Kennedy received her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 2005. Her residency was at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, with a Training Specialty of Internal Medicine. She served in fellowships at the University of Virginia School of Medicine (Training Specialty of Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology) and University of Virginia School of Medicine (Training Specialty of Cardiovascular Disease). 

She is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease. 

Pediatric Cardiology

Christopher P. Jordan, MD

Christopher P. Jordan, MD, received his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School and served as an intern at Tripler Army Medical Center with a Training Specialty of Pediatrics. He was fellowship trained at the National Human Genome Research Institute/National Institutes of Health with a Training Specialty of Medical Genetics, and at Childrens National Medical Center with a Training Specialty of Pediatric Cardiology. He is board certified in Pediatric Cardiology.
