Holiday Hours

With the exception of Inova hospitals, Inova Emergency Care and Inova-GoHealth Urgent Care, all Inova outpatient offices will be closed for the Labor Day holiday – Monday, September 2.

Prenatal/Obstetric Care

  • To access prenatal care through Inova Cares for Women, patients must meet the following requirements:
    • Patients must live in Northern Virginia.
    • They must be uninsured, have Virginia Medicaid or be eligible for Virginia Medicaid.
    • They must meet Inova charity care program income requirements (household income of no more than 400% of the federal poverty level). Financial assistance applications
  • Patients with private insurance can seek services with Inova Obstetrics and Gynecology locations throughout the region.
  • Fairfax County uninsured patients must first go to their local Fairfax County Health Department clinic and have a confirmation of pregnancy test, a public health assessment visit with a public health nurse and an eligibility appointment with a family assistance worker. Once these steps have been completed, the health department contacts Inova Cares Clinic for Women and the clinic will call the patient to schedule an appointment for an intake visit with a nurse.
  • Uninsured patients from other counties are strongly encouraged to contact their local health department prior to seeking services with Inova Cares for Women.
  • Please note, we start prenatal care at the beginning of the second trimester. We are unable at this time to accept transfer of care from other OB-GYN practices. Exceptions will be considered only with a referral from your current OB-GYN provider.

Gynecologic Care

  • To access gynecologic care with Inova Cares for Women, patients must meet the following requirements:
    • Patients must live in Northern Virginia.
    • They must be uninsured, have Virginia Medicaid or be eligible for Virginia Medicaid.
    • They must meet Inova charity care program income requirements (household income of no more than 400% of the federal poverty level). Financial assistance applications
  • Uninsured patients seeking standard well woman care should seek services with Inova Cares for Families. Uninsured patients seeking all other gynecologic care require a referral from an Inova hospital, other Inova Cares facility, local health department or community agency partner.
  • Patients with Virginia Medicaid seeking standard well woman care can contact the clinic directly for an appointment (no referral needed).
  • Specialty gynecologic care and some complex gynecology services require a referral from an Inova hospital, another Inova Cares facility, local health department or community agency partner.

Follow-Up Visit from an Inova Emergency Room

  • Inova Cares for Women also provides one follow-up visit to patients who are seen in an Inova emergency room and meet the eligibility criteria for the clinic (see above).
  • Select community partners may refer certain gynecologic cases to Inova Cares for Women based on eligibility criteria, referral review and acceptance, and type of requested service.
  • Inova Cares for Women will not accept any cases that are not appropriately referred through one of the above-listed methods.
