Dr. Nam is the Medical Director of the Inova Central laboratory, with over 30 years’ experience as a board certified pathologist specializing in hematology in both clinical and research setting. She as strong passion for educating others which can be seen by her award winning capstone topics pervious histology students have done.

Nicholas Hoo-Fatt

Nicholas Hoo-Fatt, M.S., HTL (ASCP), DP

Education Coordinator

Mr. Nicholas Hoo-Fatt is the program coordinator for the Inova Histology Program and has more than 18 years of Histology experience. He the award recipient for being one of the top 55 under 55 laboratory professionals my MLO, the 20204 excellence in whole slide image analysis award by NSH and the 2022 blue ribbon top 5 finalist from ASCP. He leads the program in developing the next generation of histotechnician and histotechnologist by implementing innovative curriculum, while giving back to the community.

Cynthia L. Howell

Clinical Liaison, Inova Histology Program

A seasoned professional with over 30 years in Histotechnology, and 20 years of teaching and mentoring. A passion and love for the field, is shared with students as they are taught a blend of traditional and modern technics while introducing what’s on the horizon of the ever changing and advancing field of Histotechnology.

Kannitha Chek

Kannitha Chek, HTL (ASCP), B.S.

Teaching Assistant, Inova Histology Program

As one of the first-year graduates of the INOVA HTL program, Kannitha is passionate about succeeding as a proficient histotechnologist and approaching challenges with creativity and analytical rigor to find effective solutions. With strong skills in molecular testing gained during her studies, she is dedicated to advancing diagnostic techniques and making a meaningful impact on patient care. Her experience as a former student and leader shines through in her role as a teaching assistant for current students in the histology programs. She hopes to leverage this experience to contribute to the field in education and to strengthen INOVA's histology program, helping students succeed in their careers and become active members of the healthcare community.
