Come explore the world of histopathology and see if you would like to become a histotechnician or histotechnologist. The open house is at the Inova Laboratory, 2832 Juniper Street in Fairfax/Merrifield.

Inova Histology Program curriculum objectives will meet the standards set by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science, which includes the qualifications and responsibilities of the HT Program Administration, and HT curriculum requirements in the area of instruction, learning experiences, and evaluations. The program’s course work and clinical practicums are done simultaneously over 10 months and taught by Inova Health System Pathologists, Safety officers, Certified HTs, and Certified Cytologist.

Course Schedule

The weekly class commitment for Histotechnician (HT) students is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., PLUS two weekends a month from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The weekly class commitment for Histotechnologist (HTL) students is Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Both programs start in August of each year. Students receive days off for holidays and breaks.

Inova Histology Program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), and is the first in the state of Virginia.  The program is certified to operate by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.

The Inova Central Labs Histology Program will provide an educational program that teaches the art and science of Histopathology via lecture and lab.
